MY THOUGHTS

There is a question that plagues many parents. How do they get their child to write better? Of course, reading helps a lot, but how do they get their child to plan before they write a story, so they aren’t putting down haphazard thoughts? When I read The Great Writer’s Book, I realised that it solves multiple issues for parents helping their child write better. Now, I recently read an article about how Indian parents are making a beeline to ensure their child is a published author. Here is a book that will help.

The Great Writer’s Book is a bright, colourful, interactive book that is designed to engage readers from the very first page. The book is linear and nudges them with exercises and activities that progress in their level of difficulty. What I love about this book is that it doesn’t overwhelm the reader by asking them to pen down thoughts for a story from the very first page. Instead, it asks them to create a shopping list, then a sign for their door, then a holiday packing list and so on. The last few pages encourage the reader to think of titles for their story, plot points, and even design a book cover. Add to all this fun, there are multiple pages with stickers!

This hardcover book is great for gifting or even to engage your child over summer break. Working on this book will subtly encourage them to increase reading and look for inspiration around them as they work through the activities. Sam and Mi Books have created a beautiful book that can work for multiple age groups. Use this book as a stepping stone if you would like to help your child improve their writing skills for school, or if they are showing interest in penning their own stories. Get your copy today!
