MY THOUGHTS

You know I love a good Hook Book for countless reasons, and Manvinder’s Medu Vada is absolutely adorable.

Manvinder’s family has just moved from Chandigarh to Bengaluru. They go to a local restaurant to eat, where the family try their first Medu vada, and Manvinder is instantly hooked! Not little Manvinder wants to eat nothing else, and his family is going crazy trying to learn how to create the same medu vadas they ate at the restaurant. But can a Punjabi family make soft on the inside, crunchy on the outside medu vadas? This book is all about that hilarious struggle!

Now I love how author Riddhi Doda has written the book — from hilarious attempts at making vadas to onomatopoeic words throughout the book. It translates into a great read-aloud for young kids! I also like that you can use this book to have meaningful conversations in a fun manner about moving homes or trying new foods. Vinayak Varma’s illustrations are amazing! He has illustrated vadas and the failed attempts at making them so beautifully and realistically that they will make you laugh out loud.

To recap:
This is a great book
❤️ for kids 5+
❤️ For read-alouds
❤️ For quick reads at mealtime
❤️ For fun English figure of speech lessons
❤️ For a hilarious laugh-out-loud midday break!

Who doesn’t love Medu vadas? We all do, and that’s why you should get this book today, make a plate of steamy hot vadas and enjoy this book!
