MY THOUGHTS

Does the perfect bedtime book exist? Yes, it does!
The Elephant and the Rabbit is a darling little story about the unlikely friendship between an elephant and a rabbit. Both begin to depend on one another until Rabbit gets angry at an incident and stops meeting Elephant. But there is a twist in the tale and a happy ending.

Gayatri Hingorani writes this story as an homage to her mother’s bedtime stories. She recalls how her mother used to make up amazing stories and how they shared a special bond through this shared ritual. This story feels heartfelt and lovely because she shares her special bond with the world through this book. Sonal Gupta Vaswani’s illustrations are gorgeous and will make a strong imprint on a young reader. The illustrations of Elephant and Rabbit are adorable, and her depictions of the forest are breathtaking.

A bedtime story that talks about making friends is perfect for young ones as they navigate school and begin to make new friends on their own. This book teaches them that friends can be made with anyone, and also the importance of a strong friendship. If you are reading this as a bedtime story, I urge you to spend some time looking at the illustrations and talking about them.

This is a book that will fast become one of your child’s favourites! Be ready to read it on loop!
