ABCD – A Nature Alphabet Book
MY THOUGHTS
The perfect baby book is many different things — a board book, a cutesy story, bright and colourful, and small enough to hold. But the books you will end up treasuring are those you will read night after night, on loop. This is definitely one of those books.
A B C D, A Nature Alphabet Book by Adrija Ghosh is so gorgeous, I want to frame every page of the book for my children’s room — except they are 13 & 10 and won’t hear of it! This book, with its high-contrast pictures, is a little different from A for Apple, B for Ball. Each letter stands for something you find in nature. It’s whimsical because X is for Xenops and P for puddle. The pictures are bright and colourful, yet manage to arrest your attention, and you will find yourself flipping through a baby book again and again, without getting bored. Adrija is the author and illustrator, and she believes in not shying away from empty space on a page, instead she fills it with colour and that itself is plenty to hold a child’s attention.
Add this book to your baby’s library. It is one of those rare first books you will NOT get tired of reading and will want to proudly display on the table for everyone to see. It is also perfect when you are trying to raise a reader and a child sensitive to nature. Also an excellent Baby shower gift!
